Sitaaray Concept
'Sitaaray (or Stars) redefines the stereotype face of both Indian Cinema and Indian Cuisine bringing in a new fun and contemporary sensibility.
It celebrates the joie de vivre and chutzpah of popular Indian culture to create one of the coolest Indian eateries. An amalgam of two of India's best exports - its cuisine and its cinema.
It is one of the few of over 9000 Indian restaurants in the UK, that is an authentic North Indian Grill, as opposed to specializing mainly in curries.
The spirit of Sitaaray is inspired by cinema. Guilded frames and etched mirrors are interspersed with classic posters of landmark films. Individual booths dedicated to different genres and moods give diners an upclose look at the much loved faces of heroes and heroines, villains and vamps and legendary romantic couples through the ages. TFT screens installed in each booth show memorable scenes and clips from popular cinema.
The décor, ambience, music and visuals sweep you into a Technicolor experience that is a tribute to 75 Glorious years of Indian Cinema.
Photographs by the ‘Star’ lensman Gautam Rajyadhaksha adorn the walls. Gautam has the distinction of having the largest number of cover pictures in glossies published in all Indian languages. He is also the most sought after shutterbug in the nation for whoever wants to get noticed, and can pay the price for his portfolio.
To his credit, film stars like Raveena Tandon, Kajol, Pooja Bhatt, Namrata Shirodkar and Salman Khan got their first exposure on Gautam’s camera.
Sitaaray also houses poster art by Contemporary Indian artist Kanchan Chander known for her artistic expressions using unusual ojects that range from buttons, old coins to spoons and nails in works that are colourful, literal, metaphoric and witty.
